We took the kids to our church's Fall Festival. For the second year in a row, our church reserved the high school parking lot to set-up many inflatables. We were again blessed with beautiful weather and much more room than in our church building. I made Chubbles' costume and she was Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. We also had a Camo Guy, Gymnast and a 50s Girl.
On Saturday night we went to Lil Man's pack meeting. They had yummy chili and three different cobblers. Many games were set-up as well as a balancing rope and a trampoline. Marshmallow crossbow shooters were awarded to the best costume and best carved pumpkin. While there, Lil Man was awarded his belt loops and progression beads.
We finished up the weekend with trick or treating. Our family (minus Legs) joined my best friend's family and went all around her neighborhood. I didn't get pictures because I was busy pulling a wagon for Chubbles who really enjoyed getting candy but decided about half way through that she had had enough. She reclined in the wagon with a lollipop in her mouth and rode for the rest of the time. Legs joined a group of girls from church and trick-or-treated in another neighborhood.

Pumpkin Carving
We waited until two days before Halloween to carve our pumpkins so they would not be mushy for the contest at our pack meeting the next night.
I cut open all the tops and the girls dug right in and got as much gooey stuff out of the pumpkins that they could. Lil Man was not happy at the thought of cleaning out his pumpkin so his big sister came to the rescue.
The three older ones really enjoyed poking the starter holes all around their patterns. I poked the holes and carved Chubbles' pumpkin for her. Lil Red insisted that she do her own and you will be able to tell in the pictures. Lil Man got all of his holes poked but I had to carve for him so he could get in bed for his early morning game the next day. Legs stayed up with me and help me finish.

Cub Scout Belt Loop Fair
We trekked through a lot of cold drizzle to let Lil Man take part in a Cub Scout Belt Loop Fair. He got to participate in a variety of activities. After completing each activity, the scout leader would sign-off on their cards and later at our pack meeting, Lil Man received his belt loop.
Bro. Roger and Marla
Our beloved pastor, Roger Ferguson and his beautiful wife, Marla felt the call from God to expand their ministries and move to First Baptist Church, Justin, Texas. Our church hosted a church-wide picnic on October 16th which was our last day with them. JB and I have really felt a connection to this couple and there will be a large hole in our hearts.
Drama Class/Show N Share
Every third Friday of the month, our homeschool coop has a Fun Class along with a Show N Share time. We have to split into two groups. In Otober, Mrs. Spurgeon did a class on drama and included parts of the stage and directions for moving on the stage. We also had quite a few students share or talk about something from home or their studies.
Fall Golf Lesson
Lil Man joined seven other boys and girls from our homeschool coop in fall golf lessons during the month of September and October. They went weekly to O'Brien Park, part of Tulsa County Parks. The best part was that it was completely FREE.
Best Friends
I love that Legs has found some very special best friends at church. M and L are always there for each other and I don't think anyone or anything could separate the three musketeers.
School Outside
Yep, we take advantage of the good weather when we can and do school outside. We all enjoy the change in the routine. As you can see, even one of the dogs joins in and sleeps at our feet while we work.
God is Talking
When the kids and I see clouds like this, we always say it looks like God is talking to us down her on earth. It is definitely a sweet gift of beauty from God to see this.
Froggy Delight
Legs found this frog attached to our window when she went outside to feed the dog. I love his bright green color.
Tulsa State Fair
Two days after going to the OK History Museum, we joined my father-in-law as well as my best friend and her kids at the Tulsa State Fair.
I can't decide which fair I like better. The Tulsa State Fair seems to have more to do but the OK State Fair is bigger and has more to see. I have to say that either one is a great place to people watch.

Field Trip: OK History Museum
We took advantage of the OK History Museum Homeschool Day on October 4th and met my parents there. I love that we have the advantage of sharing a school day one-on-one with the grandparents.

Football in Grove/Playground
Lil Man had a football game in Grove on October 10th. A couple of our players were sick and one got the time messed up so we started with only seven players but by halftime we had our eighth player. We lost the game but for not having enough players, we held Grove to only one touchdown. I was very impressed with our team today.
Lil Red made a new friend with another player's sister.
Later that day, the weather was too good to ignore so I took the kids to the local playground so they could blow off some steam. I took my camera and caught some good pics of the kids.Sunday, November 7, 2010
G'Day Mate from Australia
Little Man, Little Red and I are having a great time in Australia. Ok, not really but we are having a great time learning more about the country. We are in the midst of another great Download N Go unit study. Do you know what lollies are or exactly what a wombat looks like?
Expedition Australia is a wonderful collection of geography, science and language. We have been labeling cities and other important locations on our map of Australia as well as learning a new word of the day and animal of the day.
The daily objectives are:
1. Where on Earth is Australia?
2. Some of the Special Places in Australia
3. A Bit of Australian History
4. Cool Things to Know About Australia
5. Fun and Games in Australia
We have achieved these daily goals through map work, reading some of the suggested books, drawing animals and land masses, and many other activities to numerous to mention. I think my favorite was that we had to compare time and temperature in our hometown to each daily Australian location. This tied in nicely with our math work on telling time. This unit follows suit with the other units we have completed. They have so many activities to do that our family has to pick and choose just so we can finish. I love that option and variety.
I highly recommend this unit to anyone that loves geography, Australia or just wants a change of pace in their normal school routine. If you want to read more opinions about this unit, go to the Blog Tour.
Download N Go is having a special right now on Expedition Australia through November 8th. You can get this unit for only $5.95 for an instant download and get started right away.
As another part of this adventure, Download N Go is giving away two Australia Maps. To enter the giveaway, you can go here. (TOS/DNG affiliates including the DNG Review Team and TOS Crew are not eligible.)
I hope to see you soon in the outback.

*I received this unit study free in return for my honest opinion. I was no other way compensated for my review*
