The start of the new school year brings the start of new classes, meetings and field trips. The first Friday of every month is Mom's Meeting for our homeschool group. The moms get together to meet and discuss upcoming activities and other "business". While the moms meet, we have some of our older girls watching the kids playing on a local church's indoor playground.
On the second Friday of each month, the kids come together for PE and Music classes. This first month I stayed in the gym and watched PE. I apologize for the poor pictures but my camera doesn't like the lighting in the gym. Next month I will have pictures from music.

Circus
J's dad is a part of the Merchant Board in our tiny little community and they worked together to get a one-ring circus to come to our town. Our family went with J's dad and had a good time.
Military Birthday Campout
We went all out this year for Lil Man's eighth birthday. He invited his whole football team as well as friends from church and friends from our homeschool group. In total we had 15 seven and eight year olds at our house. J had also asked some of his youth Sunday School boys to come help out so we had 4 seventh grade boys to add to the craziness.
The hardest part to planning this party was picking a date. Lil Man's birthday falls after the football season starts and close to Labor Day. I do not want to do a party on the night before a game or the night before church so our only option was Sunday night of Labor Day weekend. None of the boys had school, church or game that Monday morning.
The boys were asked to come dressed in camo and to bring a dart gun. We played football, dart guns and a couple of different versions of tag. We also had a tank pinata, camo decorated cupcakes and present time. We grilled hot dogs and had plans to make smores but that got changed. The night ended with all the boys and J sleeping outside in tents.

Girls Group
I took Lil Red to a club meeting for Girls Club. This group is led by another very sweet homeschool mom. Legs used to do this but said she did not want to this year. She may come around and change her mind. This month the girls got to paint rocks for pets, decorate a shoe box and make it home for their rocks, decorated cupcakes and made cookies for the local firefighters.
Skiatook vs. Bishop Kelley
The first game of the season and our final score was 0-0. I think it is safe to say that we were evenly matched with Bishop Kelley.
Now he is 8!
Lil Man turned 8 years old on August 27th. If we don't have a party for the kids on their actual birthday, then we take them out to eat. Lil Man chose a pizza place next to miniature golf.
I will have to say that the pizza place is NOT one I would recommend to anyone. It was cooler outside than in the restaurant. They had no ice, some toppings and no cheese to shake on your pizza. We will not be going there again.
Miniature golf was to a point. It was extremely crowded so we had to do a lot of waiting. In the end, we had to cut our time short because Lil Man and J had to be at J's grandma's house to stay overnight to help with her constant care.

Mark Schultz/Warren Barfield
Towards the end of the month, J and I got to have a date night and go to a concert in Broken Arrow. The local radio station was promoting a Date Night Special for $25 a couple. We got two tickets to the show as well as we got to meet Mark Schultz and Warren Barfield before the concert.
First Day of School, Again
Legs had her first day of school about a week after Lil Man and Lil Red. Legs is in 7th grade. She will be using Math U See, Apologia Science, Easy Grammar/Daily Grams, Writing Strands, and Sonlight all this year.
Back To School Party
Around the middle of August we went as a family to our coop's Back to School Party. We had so many respond, that our fearless leader had to schedule a second party for the next week to accommodate everyone. The party was at Soiree in Collinsville.

Tulsa Children's Museum Field Trip
The Tulsa Children's Museum is in the process of raising funds for a permanent building but in the meantime, they have traveling exhibits that come and set-up in various places in Tulsa. This exhibit was called Go Figure and it was displayed at Central Library in Tulsa.
I took the three little ones while Legs was at my parent's house. There was five different "stations" where we could read the book together and then do an activity related to the story.

Pizza Party
Our family was again blessed to have the chance to review another unit from Download N Go. You will want to read all the way down to the end for a sale announcement and another give away. Woo hoo!
This time we got to enjoy Pizza Party.
Each day we "traveled" to another part of Italy. While there, we learned about famous people such as Michelangelo and Vivaldi.
We also were able to include fractions, nutrition, art and an experiment or two.
For my 1st and 2nd grader I eliminated some of the writing and we did more verbal work. We also left out a few of the smaller activities due to time and age.
If your family likes to learn about new places or the way something is made, then I recommend this unit. I feel this unit had more hands-on activities than the previous one we reviewed and we still did not take part in all that was offered.
Please watch the slide show below and you can see some of our fun that my family had. When you run your mouse over the pictures, you will see the descriptions of each picture.
If you would like to read what other families thought about this unit, then you can find them all here.
Download and Go is having a sale on Pizza Party Saturday and Sunday, September 4th & 5th in celebration of National Pizza Day. The unit will be on sale for $5 so don't miss out. Visit the Pizza Party page to take advantage of the sale.
Download N Go has given me the opportunity to give a copy of this unit to another family. You can get one entry for each of the following...
1. Comment below. Please leave me an email in order for me to contact you if you win and to send the download.
2. Make a post on your blog and leave a comment on here with a link back to your post.
3. Post a link to this review on Facebook or Twitter and comment back here as well.
All entries (comments) must be posted by midnight, Saturday, September 11th. I will have one of my sweeties pull a name out of the hat the next day and announce the winner on here. Good luck!
Disclaimer: I received no compensation in exchange for my review of Pizza Party.
